Making a Hype Video - BPA/DECA National Competition
This past month I planned, designed, and animated a short video to hype up competitors of the 2024 BPA & DECA National Competition.

Early brainstorming & ideas
Pinterest board for inspiration
Style guide & mood board
I began plotting out ideas by writing down my thoughts of how I expected the specific style and mood to turn out. From there I would start sketching out frames for the storyboard.

Making assets in Procreate
Most of the textures and designs in the final video were hand-drawn in Procreate and then moved over to Illustrator to vectorize. I didn't end up using all of them, but I wanted a variety to pick and choose from. Any other textures and imagery (except photos of competitors) were found on Unsplash.
Photo editing
After I was provided with the images, I selected the ones that I wanted to use and compiled them each into Photoshop to add a mask and B&W filter. Then I imported the image into Illustrator so I could add a hand-cut style border around the person. I did this part in Illustrator since it was vector-based and would retain it's sharpness in After Effects.
Designing the style frames in Illustrator
After I had my assets, font, and theme picked out, I designed each frame in Illustrator. After that, I was ready to move on to After Effects.
